GRACI Foundation Research Grants Policy 2024
GRACI grants will be awarded to support New Zealand (NZ) research in gynaecological cancer in
accordance with the documented goals of the GRACI foundation.
Grant process:
Assessment and awarding of GRACI Research Grant applications:
GRACI grants will be awarded to support New Zealand (NZ) research in gynaecological cancer in
accordance with the documented goals of the GRACI foundation.
- To improve outcomes for New Zealand women with gynaecological cancer.
- To support infrastructure for clinical research into the treatment or prevention of gynaecological cancer in
- New Zealand women.
- To support the research of New Zealand researchers in the field of gynaecological cancer.
- To promote the conduct of new research in the field of gynaecological cancer.
Grant process:
- The Board will determine the monies and grants available at the first meeting of the year.
- Any collaborative grants offered through the GRACI grant process will be managed using the
- GRACI Grant policy and a MOU will be implemented.
- The Board will appoint a grant convenor/s and 3 external reviewers early in the year.
- GRACI Grants will be available to any researcher residing in NZ and affiliated to a NZ research
- organisation or healthcare provider.
- The available grants and application process will be on the GRACI website, and will be
- communicated to the NZGCG membership, Ovarian Cancer Foundation New Zealand (OCFNZ),
- and to research offices within NZ Universities and District Health Boards, along with submission
- opening and closing dates.
- GRACI Research Grant Guidelines for Applicants and the GRACI Research Grant Application
- form will be published and available on the GRACI website www.graci.co.nz
- A 6-week period will be given for submissions. Applications will generally open late April/early
- May and close early mid-June as advertised.
- Completed applications will be sent to the GRACI board via email: [email protected]
- The board will inform applicants of the decision within 14 – 16 weeks of the closing date.
Assessment and awarding of GRACI Research Grant applications:
- There is a small community of gynaecological cancer researchers in NZ. The Board recognise’s
- the potential for conflict of interest for board members/convenor/s and external reviewers. The
- Board will appoint 3 reviewers from within the NZ and international gynaecological cancer and
- the broader cancer research setting to allow independent review.
- Grant applications will be sent to the convenor/s for initial review and suitability of application.
- Applications will be sent to the 3 reviewers along with scoring criteria.
- Reviewers will have approximately 4 weeks to review applications
- Reviewers’ comments and scores will be presented to the board and grants offered and awarded.
- Successful and non-successful applicants will be informed in writing of the outcome of the
- awards within 14-16 weeks of closure of the applications.
- Successful applicants will be published on the GRACI website.
- The grant must be uplifted within 12 months of the award, unless approved by the GRACI board.
- Grants will only be paid into accounts of NZ research organizations, trusts or healthcare
- providers, not to individuals.
- The Principal Applicant must submit a progress report for their research at 12 months from award.
